Joint production ‘Monte’ screens in theaters across Iran

Iranian filmmaker Amir Naderi’s ‘Monte’ (Mountain) is being screened in theaters across Iran.

Iranian filmmaker Amir Naderi’s ‘Monte’ (Mountain) has been screened in theaters across Iran.

Four cinemas in the Iranian capital city of Tehran are showing Naderi’s latest film, including Kourosh and Charsou cineplexes, Farhang cinema and Iranian Artists Forum.

US-based Iranian filmmaker Amir Naderi earlier expressed his gratitude to Iranian cultural officials for deciding to screen his movie ‘Monte’ in his homeland.

“I would like the younger generation to watch my film... The impact of the film on the younger generation is important to me, even if they don’t like it,” he noted.

‘Monte’ tells the story of a man who makes every attempt to bring sunlight into his village, where his family is barely able to survive because of the prevailing darkness.

A joint production of Italy, France and the United States, Naderi filmed the 105-minute drama in the mountainous regions of Alto Adige and Friuli, Italy.

The film stars Andrea Sartoretti and Claudia Potenza.

The highly symbolic movie is set centuries ago in 1350 AD.
